Adlington New Town

We are opposing Adlington New Town on the following grounds:

The destruction of Strategic Green Belt
The destruction of habitat for wildlife
The closing of farms and the impact on food supply
The inadequate location and poor infrastructure

This proposal will have a significant detrimental effect on our nearby town Macclesfield where investment is severely lacking - killing an old town to create a new town.

Peak Cluster Pipeline

The Peak Cluster pipeline is a proposed 121-mile carbon capture pipeline transporting CO2 from Derbyshire/Staffordshire industrial sites to the Irish Sea, featuring a significant Central Feeder Above Ground Installation (AGI) southwest of Macclesfield.

The pipeline is proposed to be an above ground eyesore, ripping through Gawsworth, Macclesfield.

There are many groups objecting to these proposals which are part of the Labour Governments plan to achieve Net Zero.

Household Waste Recycling Centre

We seem to be paying the price in Macclesfield as our council tax continues to rise above inflation, yet essential services such as our Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) remain inadequate. The closure of Poynton, Bollington, and Congleton HWRCs has left Macclesfield as the only available site, and following recent council discussions, it may soon require pre-booked slots just to use the tip.

It is no surprise that fly-tipping is on the rise. Moreover, the access to the Macclesfield site is hazardous and feels like an accident waiting to happen. This situation is unacceptable for council taxpayers and cannot continue. Immediate action is needed to ensure fair, safe, and accessible waste services for the community.
